Nau Mai, Haere Mai – Welcome!
On behalf of the Structural Engineering Society (SESOC) we invite you to join us at the 2025 Bi-Annual Conference to be held at the iconic Tākina Convention Centre in the heart of Wellington City from 25-27 June.
The theme of the conference is “Navigating Change with Integrity and Future Focus” noting that we are working within a context of fast paced change. This is impacting our engineering practice in many areas, including regulatory, technical, economic, social and digital. We are facing significant engineering challenges, with a sizable infrastructure deficit, significant natural hazards and a climate emergency. The conference will focus on the vital role of structural engineers in upholding public safety, positively impacting social outcomes and driving climate action.
The programme will include a dynamic mix of engaging keynote addresses, plenary sessions designed for debate and delegate participation and quick fire “lightning talks”. Our carefully curated programme will cover a broad range of topics that influence the practice of structural engineering and are designed to stimulate diverse thinking. Our sessions include perspectives from the construction sector, client organisations and architectural project partners. We also recognise that there is significant momentum in the spaces of sustainability and digital transformation which will be represented. In addition to future focused topics technical sessions will cover developments in research, regulation and policy, centring on core engineering principles and integrity in design.
This will be the Eighth New Zealand National conference hosted by SESOC and will be of particular interest to emerging professionals and senior engineers alike, with several streams running concurrently providing choice and variety of content. The conference will bring together professionals from a broad range of sectors, including architecture, business, public policy, construction and regulation.
As the conference date draws closer, the website will be updated with details of keynote speakers, plenaries and activities - please check in regularly for updates.
We look forward to welcoming you all to Wellington for a thought provoking conference.
